A warm introduction is a good beginning. Give yourself room to ask how the relationship will work and what is included in a package.
Ask when labor support begins, how urgent messages are handled, and what happens if the doula is unavailable. Clarify partner involvement, service boundaries, and how a changing plan is supported.
After the conversation, think about how you felt: did you have room to ask, did the answers feel clear, and does the communication style fit what you need?
Review the agreement before signing. Your preferences and questions deserve specifics.
